Structural Evolution: Leadless Design Improves Voltage Divider Reliability
Traditional capacitor voltage dividers are prone to problems such as cold solder joints and burrs piercing the dielectric due to the lead-sheet welding process. Doorknob capacitors employ a leadless, press-fit series structure, interconnecting components via direct crimping of aluminum foil electrodes. This design combines low inductance (≤20nH) with high mechanical strength. This structure excels in circuit breaker grading capacitors and CVTs (capacitor voltage transformers):
Voltage grading applications: Ensures uniform voltage distribution across series circuit breakers, suppressing restrike overvoltage.
CVT applications: Although the leadless structure may slightly increase high-frequency equivalent series resistance, it meets the requirements of the GB/T 4705 standard and is more suitable for automated production. A domestic high-voltage electrical equipment manufacturer employed this capacitor in a 252kV GIL (gas-insulated line) project, reducing the annual failure rate of the voltage divider by 70%.
